Wow - I've been "Lovely Blogged"!

Barbara over at The New Good Life popped over yesterday to award me with a "One Lovely Blog Award". Which is kinda cool and really made my day!



In order to accept the award, there are a number of things one must do...

1 – Show your Thanks – Thank the person who awarded the honor and link back to them Thank you Barbara!

2 - Share seven things about yourself. In no paticular order:

I jumped out of an aeroplane 29 times in my early 20's during my "parachuting is cool" phase - Its an expensive hobby (and he turned out to have a girlfriend...)

I like to read and am not very good at taking time to read a book - I want to know what happens and read and read and end up staying up 1/2 the night until the book is finished!

I love black flavored tea's and I currently have French Earl Grey (with Lavender), Black Chai, Rose Petal, Stockholme (various flowers), Monk (pear and bergamot) and Earl Grey Romantica (with scotch heather flowers)

One of my all time favorite things to is to read the Sunday paper (with a pot of tea).

I have only been married for 2 1/2 years and think its still great fun!

I have too many jobs and don't get to blog, read blogs and find new blogs as much as I would like to!

I want solar panels on the roof to reduce my powerbill and some sky tube things to let in more light so I dont have to use more power (If I had one would I need the other?)

I too want solar panels. Not this year I don't think, unfortunately.

Hi! Thanks so much. :-)

It's kind of funny to read that we're on the other side of the world. But of course, it is true. :-)

I laughed about your parachuting too. I've never tried it, but I've been told it can be life-changing.

I would love to have solar power as well. Gosh with the summer we've been having, I bet we'd be making money if we had a system tied into the grid. ;-)

Ahh - hot air ballooning!I have done that too, and it is wonderful! I was given it as a 40th birthday present. If the oppotunity arises ladies - grab it with both hands and go hot air ballooning!

Glad you appreciated the award Kara and I love your list! Now let's see. I too have jumped out of a plane in my twenties.... but only once, obviously I didn't have the right jump partner! I too LOVE reading and with the right book will stay up til all hours reading (I got the Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela in one weekend!). I like tea, just regular black tea is fine with me, you are clearly a connoisseur of tea. Sunday paper, all I can say is it's a distant memory. My Sunday's are all about kids and trying to get organised for the week now. I've been married for almost nine year, together for 15 years. I still love it most of the time, but it has changed a lot since the two girls entered our lives, not that we'd have it any other way. I have solar panels being installed any day now and am so excited!

Hi Barbara! Wow, so much in common! Let me know how your solar panels go - my 'Darth Husband' wont let me have an yet. He reckons we need to work on bringing the powerbill down first (which Im doing... Slowly)and then he will help fund it. In the meantime I'm on my own if I want to install them and they aint that cheap... :( One day he will come home and find them on the roof I swear!!! I love finding new blogs! See you in the blogosphere! - K xx

We live in Queensland. We have cockroaches. Lots of cockroaches! Why the NSW rugby team is called the Cockroaches is a mystery to me - surely ours are not only bigger but more plentiful??? Easy to make fabric covers for milk crates!

Like most households, milk crates appear in and about our house as they are the right size to sit on, strong enough to stand on and the right shape to store things in. They are usually free or picked up for a dollar or two at garage sales or at dump/tip shops. They come in red and blue in our area (depending on weather they are originally from Paul's or Dairy Farmers!) and that simply doesn't go with my outdoor decor - neither does the plastic look but that's another issue. Something had to be done. I decided to cover them with material that fitted in with the rest of our current outdoor setting - A quick look on the Internet for inspiration and confidence and... The finished product being modelled by the cat! Here's what I did... I started with the standard Brissy Blue and Red Milk Crates... Then I bought a sheet and a couple of pillow cases from the local Footprints Op Shop This is less a pattern and more a method to follow - Cut the shee...

Team colours: A cheap way to tell your teams apart!

As some of you may know, I play basketball (albeit badly...) on Tuesday nights. Its a pick up social game at the local PCYC and each week, the teams are made up with whoever turns up. For the last few years there has been a core of about 13-15 of us playing a 5 a-side game. this means there is a sub for those nights its just too hot to run in the Queensland heat, you ate too much dinner before you came or your mobile rings while you are on the court! (We play for fun, not sheep stations!) This year we have had twenty or so players turning up each night. The PCYC is ok to give us two courts and to have 2 games going on at the same time but we discovered that we can't tell who is on whose team as they change each week! We had been given some netball bibs many years ago and so we had enough for one team - thus making us bibs v non-bibs each week. With two games playing now - we need a better solution and so I made up these 'sashes' for us to wear out of old sheets from the o...
